Viriditas: for the home
A guide for your home to nourish the body through the abundant provision of God, while seeking first things first.
what women are saying…
“THANK YOU for such a beautiful, thoughtful guide. It’s amazing! The design is so lovely, and the information is conveyed in such a clear, concise way. I love all of the quotes from the saints sprinkled throughout! I’ve been an Ember Journal subscriber since you started but as much as I love them, I hemmed and hawed over getting the guide. I’m so glad I finally did, and I wish I had sooner! I’m looking forward to participating in the online group (and another thank you for hosting it away from social media!)!”

“The Viriditas Guide truly encapsulates God’s beautiful design for man because it emphasizes what we need both body and soul. The thoughtful information focuses on the needs of the body but never departs from the needs of the soul and that our ultimate good is found in God alone. In a time when many falsely follow Descartes’ belief that health is the highest good, the ladies of the Ember Collective provide a rightly ordered vision of how God designed the world for our good and how we can reclaim that goodness without prioritizing our health over Him.”

but God still wants us to eat…”
“Fasting is better than eating and brings more graces, but God still wants us to eat…”
We believe that true health is found in body & soul.
There is a need within our church to focus on nourishing bodies as well as souls. When a body is not well nourished, it affects all facets of our being. And sometimes we even do something about it! As women who are either not yet married, preparing for marriage, or who are wives and mothers, it’s important in all seasons to nourish our bodies well, to support our vocations as well as those placed within our care.
“… Praying is better than drinking and much more pleasing to God, and yet God bids us to drink…”
Authentic healing goes beyond suppressing symptoms
While short term gains may appeal to many people, we prefer the long game. Not just for ourselves (though supporting our bodies as we live out our unique calls to holiness is important), but for generations to come. Our goal is to provide families with the education and resources they need to build up their domestic church, in the greater context of the universal Church.
In all our years of learning and experience, a key takeaway is this:
there are ways to eat and live that suppress our symptoms, leading us to think that we have healed; and there are ways to actually address our health concerns at the root.
Most of the nutrition advice screaming for your attention these days falls in that first category, symptom suppression. The trends that phase in and out over the decades (plant-based, keto, paleo, AIP, intermittent fasting, high dose synthetic supplementation that depletes us) have not stood the test of time. Quite the opposite: in a short amount of time they have proven their shortcomings as well as where they fail most people, especially women.
“… Keeping vigil is more acceptable to God than sleeping, and yet it is not displeasing to God that we sleep…”
Bio-individuality is key, but there are general foundations that support our human physiology.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health.
That said, there are basic foundations that will apply to most people; how we apply them in our day-to-day circumstances will vary. Our guide teaches you these very foundations through a thorough, yet highly accessible, nutrition curriculum that covers nutrition basics, thyroid & metabolic health, mineral balance, digestion, blood sugar regulation, hydration, and finishes with stress & the nervous system and additional pillars of health.
But that’s not all; beyond a thoughtfully laid out education, we provide practicals for all these topics as well as detailed (and visually stunning) guides:
- Vitamin and mineral guides that explain roles & functions plus food sources
- What real food is down to the subtle differences between cow and goat milk
- How to build a balanced plate
- How to stock your kitchen
- How to meal plan (for all different types of personalities)
- Information on food sourcing
- Troubleshooting food sensitivities
- Taking some of the complexities of common supplementation and making them simpler
- Much, much more!
… God has given us bodies that we might care for them and serve him in them, until the time comes when he takes us from this life.”
— St. Thomas More
